About this tool
Shows details about the device you are on, such as screen size and pixel ratio, and lets you check whether the camera and microphone actually work. Useful for a quick sanity check on a new machine or right before a video call.
When to use it
- —Confirming the camera and mic are picked up before joining a video call
- —Seeing what resolution and scaling an external monitor came up with
- —Narrowing down whether a 'webcam does not work' report is a browser-side issue
Good to know
- —Checking the camera and mic requires granting browser permission; you can revoke it once you are done.
- —If another app is holding the camera, it will not open here. Close the conferencing app first.
- —Video and audio are only shown on screen; nothing is recorded or transmitted.
