About this tool
Converts between epoch timestamps (seconds since 1970-01-01 00:00 UTC) and human-readable dates, in both directions. Handy when a log line or API response shows time only as a number.
When to use it
- —Working out what date a server log value like `1757000000` refers to
- —Picking an expiry date and converting it to the number an API expects
- —Judging how far apart two timestamps are in calendar terms
Good to know
- —Seconds and milliseconds are both common. Ten digits usually means seconds, thirteen means milliseconds; mixing them up lands you in 1970 or the far future.
- —Epoch is always UTC. The date shown follows your device's time zone, so state the zone when comparing notes with someone elsewhere.
- —The year 2038 problem concerns legacy systems storing time in 32-bit integers and does not apply here.
