About this tool
Re-encodes video to H.264 to reduce file size. You trade a little quality for a much smaller file, which makes sending and uploading easier. Files never leave the browser.
When to use it
- —Shrinking a video that exceeds an email or messenger attachment limit
- —Lightening video for a web page
- —Reducing the size of videos kept for archiving
Good to know
- —Compression is not reversible; without the original you cannot get the quality back.
- —Recompressing already compressed video stacks the losses and degrades noticeably.
- —Re-encoding in the browser means long videos take time and a lot of memory.
