About this tool
Pulls the text layer out of a PDF as-is. When you need only the words without formatting, this is the fastest and most accurate route. Extraction finishes inside the browser and the document is never transmitted.
When to use it
- —Moving a long passage out of a PDF without retyping
- —Extracting content to search it or feed it into another tool
- —Stripping formatting down to plain text
Good to know
- —Scanned image PDFs have no text layer and will produce nothing; use the OCR tool for those.
- —Tables and multi-column documents can come out in the wrong reading order.
- —Line breaks follow the original page layout, so expect to tidy it into paragraphs.
