About this tool
Converts images to PNG, JPEG, WEBP, AVIF, or ICO, and if you set a target size it adjusts quality to land under it. Conversion happens in the browser, so your photo is never uploaded.
When to use it
- —Getting a photo under an upload size limit
- —Switching to lighter formats such as WEBP or AVIF for a web page
- —Producing an ICO file to use as a favicon
Good to know
- —JPEG loses a little quality every time it is saved. Keep masters as PNG if you will re-edit them.
- —Converting a transparent image to JPEG fills the transparent areas with black or white. Use PNG or WEBP when you need transparency.
- —AVIF gives the smallest files at a given quality but may not open in very old browsers.
