About this tool
Extracts the colors an image uses most and shows them as a palette. When you want a design to carry a photo's mood, this reveals which colors are creating that impression. Processing finishes inside the browser.
When to use it
- —Choosing page background and button colors to match a hero photo
- —Finding the colors common to a set of brand photographs
- —Unifying a deck's colors with its cover image
Good to know
- —It ranks by how much a color is used, so a large background color can outrank the accent that actually defines the image.
- —Using an extracted color directly for text may leave too little contrast to read comfortably.
- —These are screen colors and will reproduce differently in print.
