About this tool
Changes playback speed by a multiplier. Use it to skim a long recording, or to stretch a hard-to-catch passage out and hear it clearly. Processing happens in the browser and the file never leaves it.
When to use it
- —Racing through a two-hour lecture recording to find the part you need
- —Slowing a fast-talking interview down to transcribe it
- —Adjusting narration pace to fit a video's length
Good to know
- —Changing speed also shifts pitch, so voices may sound higher or lower. Pair it with the pitch tool if pitch must stay put.
- —Beyond about 1.5x, consonants smear and speech gets hard to follow.
- —Stretching far slower can make audio sound hollow or metallic.
