About this tool
Cuts out just the section you need by setting start and end times. The file is processed inside the browser rather than uploaded, so it suits recordings you cannot hand to an outside service, such as meetings or interviews.
When to use it
- —Pulling the few minutes that matter out of a long recording
- —Trimming silence and noise from the head and tail of a voice file
- —Keeping only the quoted passage as a record
Good to know
- —Set the cut points finer than whole seconds so words are not clipped mid-syllable.
- —What you cut away cannot be recovered, so keep the original file.
- —Compressed formats such as MP3 lose a little quality when re-saved.
